What a wonderful week we had here in July. There was six of us in our party
and Tracey & Paul were the perfect hosts. Arrived to a really clean well
equipped homely gite. Yummy homemade scones & jam waiting for us on our arrival. They were always on hand if we needed them but never obtrusive.
Shared their knowledge of the area with us which resulted in a few great
nights with the locals. Made use of the swimming pool & fishing facilities,
some of the group went out on their bikes although too hilly for me. There was something for all of us. You could tell they were really proud of what they have lovingly restored and now offering as wonderful accommodation. We visited Orator-sur-glane visiting the ill fated village very sad tell
during the war . Definitely recommend could do with some mode of transport to visit some of the wonderful sites nearby. Thank you again to our wonderful hosts for helping us to make some more precious memories.

Tracy and Paul were the perfect hosts, never to intrude but always on hand to sort out any problems .
Barn Owl cottage/gite is beautifully restored and perfectly provides for everything you need, It really felt like a home from home, including a lovely pool to have a dip in on those hot days.
Beautiful surroundings of lush green countryside with an abundance of wildlife ranging from Kingfishers & Pine Martin down at the lake or watching Buzzards and Red Kites soaring above the fields, also listening to the Tawny Owls at night or watching Tracy & Paul's resident Barn Owl & Bats come out early evenings to go hunting and then sit and Stargaze at all the different constellations .
For the anglers ....The lake holds plenty of hard fighting Carp & Tench,
Due to the weather being nearly 40 c i was only fishing 3 or 4 hours a day but still managed 32 Tench biggest 7 lb 4 oz and 26 Mirror Carp & 1 Common .. Biggest Carp was a Mirror at 28 lb 1 oz but they were on average anything between 10 lb to 15 lb, and as Paul will tell you they fight like crazy.
Thank you Tracy and Paul for providing the most relaxed holiday we have ever had & we hope to see you again soon.

Fabulous week , my boyfriend loved the fishing lake he was so
happy to catch so many Carp . Wouldn’t go anywhere else in
France.
The hospitality was second to none and the pool was a special
oasis the glorious grounds sets the property alive.
Thanks again to our amazing hosts Paul and Tracey xx
A great fortnight in a beautiful cottage. A great outside area to sit in and relax with great fishing in the lake. I have never caught tench so big. Paul was a great help both practically and with advice. Look out for Bonny and keep a dog treat handy. The local people could not have been friendlier.
Returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at Les Carrieres gite in August 2023. The
accommodation was perfect, spacious and even better than the photos on the
website! Tracey and Paul were fabulous hosts who could not do enough for us
whilst still giving us privacy to enjoy our holiday. The gardens and lake were
stunning and we spent lazy days by the pool when we weren’t out exploring
the nearby towns and villages - it’s impossible not to relax in such idyllic
surroundings! Many thanks to Tracey and Paul for making our stay so special
and a big thank you from our grandson, Jacob, who thoroughly enjoyed
playing with the toys that Tracey kindly took time to find for him ! We
wouldn’t hesitate in booking again.
We have just returned from a two week break at Les Carrieres and it was one of the best gites we have stayed in. We went with our son and his fiancee and from the moment we arrived Paul and Tracey were extremely helpful hosts. They advised places to eat, picked up and dropped off our son from limoges airport. The gite itself was first class with ample space for at least six people. The grounds are stunning with a fantastic pool all to ourselves. A big thank you to Paul for his help with the fishing(and lending me rods) which i left at home !
The games room was a great success as was the boules court
Thank you very much Paul and Tracey for providing such a fabulous syay.
This was our second visit to Les Carrieres and proved once again to be a very
special holiday experience. We received a warm welcome from Paul and
Tracey with complimentary wine and delicious home baked banana bread
which was much appreciated after the long drive.
The gite is spacious, light and airy with everything necessary for a
comfortable stay. The grounds are beautifully kept with sweeping lawns
leading down to a delightful lake. The wildlife is very special; so many birds make this an ornithologist’s heaven - hoopoe, hen harriers, red shrike, little owl and kites to name a few. We have never seen so many butterflies and the frog chorus around the lake was unbelievable.
Gerard enjoyed fishing the lake and Paul had thoughtfully provided nets,
mats, chairs and even rods and reels so he didn’t need to bring much
equipment. The fishing was wonderful; Gerard caught a common carp of
13 lb on the first morning along with many mirror carp to 6 lb
and numerous tench up to 5 lb later in the week. He was really thrilled to
catch his best fish on the last day, a beautiful mirror carp of 25 lb 8 oz.
We once again enjoyed touring the local towns and villages and it was so
nice to come back to the pool to cool off at the end of the day.
Thank you Paul and Tracey for another great holiday at Les Carrieres, we’re
looking forward to coming back.
We had a terrific week in August '22. Middle of a heat wave, but Barn Cottage was cool and comfortable. It's bigger and better than the photos show! The pool was perfect for cooling us down too. There was lots to explore in the area and Paul & Tracey gave brilliant suggestions for lakes, cafes, social evenings; as well as sharing their fishing skills and wildlife knowledge with our boys. It is a wonderful place to relax, with owners who go out of their way to make it a special time (without ever infringing on your privacy). Recommended without reservation.
We were blessed with autumn sunshine on arrival at Les Carrieres and Tracy waiting to welcome us at the gate. The gite was all we had hoped for, clean, spacious, light and very well equipped.
Tracy and Paul were excellent hosts, helping us to settle in quickly and always happy to answer our questions and offer advice on places to visit. And what places! The area is beautiful, one of the loveliest parts of France we have visited. Historic towns, villages and chateaux, glorious Romanesque churches and lush forested hills. So much to see so another visit is essential.
The grounds of the gite are lovely too. A delightful pool and beautiful lake proved a lovely way to relax between excursions.
Paul’s advice on fishing the lake was much appreciated, Gerard caught carp to 25lbs, tench, roach and rudd but the somersaulting sturgeon proved elusive. Next time maybe?
The Chamberlain family have had a fantastic holiday stay in Paul and Tracey's beautiful gite it is a home from home it as everything you could need, and the outside space is out of this world lovely swimming BBQ area spent many an evening star gracing
Paul and Tracey were so helpful booking restaurants for us making sure we had a great holiday and the games room is so well equipped thank you both.
